I totally remember that you get carsick (drives to girls camp or youth conference up in the mountains), though I don't think I ever witnessed the actual puking. Way to go Paul on the hair holding.

I am not so good with meat either. I have learned to just not think about it while I am cooking, but I don't know if I could handle elk.

I married into a family of hunters, but luckily Charlie is not into it at all. His dad is a big time hunter though. I can't even stand the thought of it.Carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05250577940234149853noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3553622521915843865.post-77885349580439717982009-03-06T20:13:00.000-08:002009-03-06T20:13:00.000-08:00I think everything you said is part of the reason ...I think everything you said is part of the reason I don't eat meat. Since I've been married, I've learned to cook chicken and even some ground beef for tacos but that's about it. Ironically, Penny LOVES eating steak with Stephan. Probably because she's craving all the protein she doesn't get from me during the days.Marniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02482022182830564621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3553622521915843865.post-29965036800295929152009-03-05T22:30:00.000-08:002009-03-05T22:30:00.000-08:00That is really cute that Paul held your hair back....That is really cute that Paul held your hair back. :) I'm going to go become a vegetarian now.... :) In all honestly, you were a very good sport!Nikki Mendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02682561235709020281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3553622521915843865.post-69425177011931697932009-03-05T12:52:00.000-08:002009-03-05T12:52:00.000-08:00I have to say I have a full deep freeze full of el...I have to say I have a full deep freeze full of elk meat that has been eaten twice. Food storage is what I call it. If I was on the brink of starvation it would be great! JK the steak Cameron made was ok but it is diffiantly not my first choice. At least you gave it a shot that is brave. Now if your husband ever brings home deer, just throw it away!Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00750365516179040677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3553622521915843865.post-53835300747435354362009-03-05T09:44:00.000-08:002009-03-05T09:44:00.000-08:00haha, you're brave Amy! I felt so bad that you got sick, but the elk bugling was awesome! Wow that was forever ago...Tessahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09729379506221197532noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3553622521915843865.post-11074184009663649432009-03-05T08:17:00.000-08:002009-03-05T08:17:00.000-08:00I have often felt the same way! Do know that what you're doing - eating meat from something that died very quickly and got to live all of its life in the wild, doing what it's supposed to do, IS the most humane way to eat meat (in my opinion). Don't get me wrong - you won't see me out there shooting a bull elk - but after reading The Omnivore's Dilemna I have a new outlook. Much easier said then done though -I don't think I would have been able to stomach the meat either (purple?!) but good for you for going with it!
P.S. Cute story about meeting Paul's cousins, I love that he held your hair back while you puked :)Christyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13990088431135195610noreply@blogger.com
