Bummer, Bonus, and Biggest Loser

The Bummer: My little sister Jessica's study-abroad to Guadalajara was cancelled due to the whole Swine Flu thing that was hugely blown out of proportion. So instead of heading to Mexico for the summer to study Spanish and volunteer by teaching blind kids to swim, she is going to be at home working at a flower shop.

The Bonus: Since Jessica had already paid for plane tickets to Mexico and couldn't get a refund, she rescheduled her flight to go to Cancun with me and Paul in a couple weeks. We are SO excited and it is going to be such a fun trip with her. She has never really been out of the country before (just to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls), but her espanol is muy bueno. We are looking forward to traipsing around ruins at Chichen Itza, Tulum and Uxmal, swimming in cenotes, taking lots of photos, and enjoying the Yucatan area. Here's hoping we don't catch any nasty flu bugs while we are there.

The Biggest Loser: Isn't this show just the best? I have to admit I get a little choked up some weeks when the contestants work so hard and do so well at something they have struggled to overcome. Paul told me that this week's episode where the contestants ran/walked a full marathon really inspired him to work out more. Seeing the emotion as they crossed the finish line after doing 26.2 miles brought back so many memories for me of the marathon I ran just before starting law school. One of these days I am going to get serious and do another marathon. Can't wait to see how everyone looks next week in the finale.

  1. That is so cool you're going to Cancun! We went right before we left Mexico. It's so great and the water is awesome. Have a great time. Bueno suerte con español! Everyone speaks English there too.

  2. We loved Mexico, I know I've told you that before but whatever. Tulum was my favorite place. I still can't believe I snorkeled around in those caves down there. And, we saw some pretty awesome fish in the cenotes where we snorkeled. Nothing compared to the other wonderful places you've traveled, I'm sure.

I love the biggest loser also. I really wish there was some kind of way I could be on the show. I need someone to really get me going.

  3. Charlie told me a few weeks ago that he thought I was probably the only skinny person who watches Biggest Loser. I knew he was totally WRONG! I loved the marathon episode too. Brought back great memories. I would love to run another one someday too. Let me know next time you decide to start training and maybe we could plan to run one together somewhere. That would be fun!
